We are pleased to announce that we have been selected by Theo Paphitis of Dragon’s Den as the winners of Small Business Sunday (#SBS) for May 17th 2015. This is a huge honour for us, and we have received so much support from the #SBS community on Twitter!
The award is given directly by Theo Paphitis, one of the original Dragons from the hit BBC show Dragon’s Den. We tweeted Theo, who has more than 470,000 followers, with our business story and why we felt that JS Burgess Engineering deserved to be recognised for the award. We were then selected as one of six winners, and Theo re-tweeted our entry to all his followers!
JS Burgess (@JSBStillages) tweeted Theo for the first time on May 17th and were selected as winners on the 18th. Our tweet focussed on the husband and wife nature of the business, which has existed for more than 25 years, and also included a picture of our newly designed website.
Our success has since been picked up by a number of local business websites and news outlets, including the Business Desk and Pennine Business News, among others. Some of the articles also asked to include a quote from Thea, who owns the company together with husband Jonny – and we have reproduced that below:
“To be recognised by someone as successful in the business world as Theo is such a fantastic achievement for us, particularly as it’s the first time we entered the award. The amount of feedback on our Twitter account from all the other #SBS winners has been phenomenal, and we’ve seen a sudden rise in our number of followers – it’s certainly something I’d recommend to other businesses!”
