Rise in UK Car Manufacturing: We are pleased to hear news released today which suggests that car manufacturing in the United Kingdom is at a ten year high – with almost 1.6 million cars having been built in 2015. According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, this is a rise of 3.9% on 2014 figures, with demand from Europe for British-made cars increasing by 11%.
Apparently, almost four of every five cars produced were exported – a rise of 2.7% on 2014 – despite falls in demand from both China and Russia. Mike Hawes, the Chief Executive of the SMMT, said that ‘foreign demand for British-built cars has been strong.’
This is exciting news for us at JS Burgess, and we would like to congratulate all of our clients from across the automotive manufacturing chain for whom we produce stillages – including second and third tier companies who supply the major household names.
According to figures, major car brands such as Mini, Toyota, Vauxhall and Jaguar Land Rover have all seen a rise in their production outputs this year.
As a UK-based company, we are very pleased to hear of the success of the British automotive industry in 2015 and we look forward to continuing to supply the sector throughout 2016 and beyond.
