Common Repair & Refurbishment Work

Repair the areas that are stopping an otherwise useful asset from doing its job, then restore the finish where required.

  • Floor repairs and floor replacement
  • Door, hinge and locking mechanism repairs
  • Side wall and end panel repairs
  • Hook bar and runner repairs on RoRo containers
  • Crack welding and structural reinforcement
  • Full refurbishment of suitable assets
  • Repainting in customer colours and application of company livery

The final scope depends on the condition and specification of the asset. Safety-critical areas should be assessed before a repair route is agreed.

Repair or Replace? Start With an Assessment

Not every damaged container or stillage needs to be replaced immediately. Where the underlying asset is suitable for repair, targeted work can extend its service life and defer the cost of replacement.

Start by sending us:

  • The container, skip or stillage type
  • Approximate size or dimensions
  • A short description of the damage or wear
  • Clear photos of the affected areas and overall asset
  • Your location and any timing requirements

We can then review the requirement and discuss whether repair, refurbishment or replacement is the more appropriate next step.

Why Choose JS Burgess for Repairs?

Repair work benefits from the same core capability JS Burgess uses to manufacture heavy-duty steel products in the UK.

  • Manufacturing knowledge: experience designing and fabricating stillages, skips, RoRos and other waste products.
  • In-house fabrication: metal forming, welding, assembly and finishing capability under one manufacturing operation.
  • Design support: CAD and 3D modelling capability where a repair or modification needs engineering input.
  • Refurbishment finish: repaired assets can be repainted in customer colours and finished with company livery where required.
  • Logistics experience: JS Burgess has experience coordinating transport for heavy steel products, so collection or return requirements can be discussed as part of the job.

Container, Skip & Stillage Repair FAQs

What types of container repairs does JS Burgess provide?

JS Burgess can support structural repair and refurbishment work on existing waste containers, skips and stillages. Typical work includes floor repairs or replacement, doors, hinges and locking mechanisms, side and end panels, crack welding and reinforcement.

RoRo repair can also include hook bars and runners. Send photos and details of the asset so we can confirm the appropriate repair scope before work is agreed.

Do you repair RoRo containers?

Yes. RoRo container repair forms part of the wider waste-container repair service.

Depending on the condition of the unit, work can include:

  • Floors
  • Side or end panels
  • Doors
  • Hook bars
  • Runners
  • Crack repairs
  • Structural reinforcement
  • Refurbishment

Hooklift containers include safety-critical interfaces, so the exact repair should be agreed after the individual container has been assessed rather than applying a generic repair specification.

Do you repair metal stillages and equipment made by other suppliers?

Yes. JS Burgess can repair and refurbish metal stillages, and the service can also assess suitable third-party containers and stillages. Mixed fleets are therefore welcome.

Provide any drawings, manufacturer information or known specifications you have, particularly where lifting, hooklift or other safety-critical interfaces are involved, so we can understand the original design and confirm what can be repaired safely and practically.

Can repaired containers be repainted or branded?

Yes. Repainting in customer colours and the application of company livery can be included within the refurbishment scope.

This is useful where repaired units need to return to service looking consistent with the rest of a fleet. Include your required colour, artwork and existing branding standard with the enquiry so finishing requirements can be considered as part of the repair quote from the outset.

When is repair a better option than replacement?

Repair can make commercial sense when the underlying asset remains suitable for service and the damage is concentrated in repairable areas.

It can extend asset life and defer replacement spend, but it is not automatically the right answer in every case. Severe structural damage, extensive corrosion or damage to critical interfaces may change the economics or suitability of repair.
Send photos and details first so the requirement can be assessed.

What information should I send for a repair quote?

Start with enough information for us to understand the asset and the damage. You do not need to write a technical repair specification.

The most useful information is:

  • Container or stillage type
  • Approximate dimensions
  • Quantity
  • Clear photographs
  • Description of the affected areas
  • Location
  • Paint or livery requirements

Drawings or existing specifications are helpful where available, particularly for fleet-matching or safety-critical components.
