What sizes of enclosed skip does JS Burgess manufacture?

JS Burgess offers standard enclosed skips in 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 yard capacities, giving operators a range of options for different sites, fleets and waste volumes. Published tare weights run from 665 kg for the 6-yard skip to 1,075 kg for the 16-yard model.

What is the difference between steel and plastic lids?

Both options provide top-hinged, lockable access, but the lid arrangement differs.

Steel-lidded models use one lockable steel lid on each side of the skip. Plastic-lidded models use two lockable double-skinned plastic lids on each side.

The right choice depends on how people will access and load the skip, your existing fleet preference and the specification you want to standardise around. There is no single lid type that is automatically right for every operation, so tell us how your skips are used and we can help you compare the two configurations.

When should I choose an enclosed skip instead of an open skip?

An enclosed skip is worth considering when containment and controlled access matter more than unrestricted top loading.

Typical reasons include keeping lightweight material from being blown out, discouraging unauthorised access, keeping the contents less visible or controlling how users access the waste container.

An open skip may still be more practical where frequent unrestricted top loading is the priority. The best format depends on your waste stream, loading process and site. Enclosure does not automatically make a skip suitable for every waste type, so the intended contents and loaded weight should still be agreed with your waste operator.

Can JS Burgess match our existing enclosed skip fleet?

Yes. If you already have a working fleet, JS Burgess can review the specification you need new units to match or adapt.
